FOREWORD
SIMON PRESS Senior Exhibition Director for WTM London
WELCOME to the WTM London 2017 Preview, offering you a taste of what to expect at London’s ExCeL between Monday 6 – Wednesday 8 November.
The interactive pages that follow will give you an overview of WTM London’s industry-leading events programme, plus a sneak preview of some of the event’s headline speakers. The leading global event for the travel industry will again be a three-day format following the overwhelming success of last year’s WTM London, which saw a record attendance of more than 51,500 senior industry professionals. This year, the WTM & UNWTO Ministerial Programme and the infl uential and hugely popular World Responsible Tourism Day – including the WTM Responsible Tourism Awards – return now on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Key speakers at the show include: Alex Cruz, the chief executive of British Airways, Travelocity founder Terry Jones, Nick Longman, Managing Director of TUI UK & Ireland and the leading MEP in the Brexit negotiations, Guy Verhofstadt. Furthermore, the WTM International Media Centre is again located on the exhibition fl oor, bringing more than 3,000 members of the media closer to the 5,000 exhibitors. The Travel Tech Show at WTM and
A Taste of ILTM at WTM return, better than ever, for their fourth outings. The WTM Festivals – which will see a number of our exhibitors hosting networking events between the hours of 4.30-6pm on Wednesday 8 November – will close WTM London 2017 with a celebration of colour, music and culture from around the globe. I am extremely pleased to announce
strong growth in exhibitors from around the world. For example, eNett
International will be exhibiting in the Travel Tech Show for the fi rst time and the remarkable increase in the size of the stands in the Asia Pacifi c region. The WTM Digital Infl uencers’ Speed Networking event (formerly called Bloggers’ Speed Networking) returns with 120 of the world’s leading bloggers and digital infl uencers taking part in the 90-minute session. The number of digital infl uencers attending WTM London increases every year and the speed networking event gives exhibitors a vehicle to discuss business opportunities with a group of people whose role in the industry is growing every year.
Looking beyond the event itself, WTM London is proud of its reputation as a year-round provider of trusted business intelligence. Through our extensive network of industry research partners such as Euromonitor
International, Nielsen and Forwardkeys we can now offer invaluable assistance to travel and tourism professionals around the world. We look forward to welcoming the world to London – again – for three days of vibrant, colourful, exhilarating travel oriented business at WTM London 2017, where £3 billion of business will be negotiated and signed.
