Vullings Systemen,
Dofra, in collaboration with a number of eminent growers in France and Poland, has run plenty of trials aimed at obtaining optimal water distribution in tray systems. These efforts have finally resulted in a watering system based on the cable pulling system, “which no one else has as much expe- rience with as Dofra”, according to a company spokesperson. Special nozzles create a fine, even water distribution pattern over the entire width of the trays, so the mushrooms emerge uniformly. This automatic watering system has already been instal- led and is working to the full satisfaction of growers in Europe, Canada and the USA. The system can automatically water trays stacked up to 14 tiers high.
stand 38 C On 1 February, the announce- ment of the nomination of Vullings Systemen for the In- novAward was made. This award is an initiative of Development Company Greenport Venlo and the Province of Limburg, in cooperation with the Greenport Venlo Innovation Centre, which aims to stimulate innovative developments in Limburg. Vullings Systemen is market leader in the field of watering systems for the mushroom sec- tor. The company was nominated for its MULTIFLEX WSS project, a new watering system with two central objectives: optimising harvesting results in the mushroom sector and optimising water consumption using the latest techniques. In other words, maximum output with minimum water consumption. Reusing water is a key element in this process. “The region of North Limburg is one of the major mushroom production centres in the world. Optimising watering systems, in cooperation and combination with rela- ted processes, may lead to efficiency improvements which will keep the mushroom sector economically attractive ”, says Jan Arts, director of Vullings. When the InnovAward is finally presented, a demonstrable economic spin-off in the North-Limburg region at the end of the year will be taken into consideration. The detailed project plans will be assessed based on the extent of innovation and the progress made in relation to the realisation and implementation of the product nominated for the award. The jury will ultimately select the ten, best proposals. Each will receive an InnovAward that will be presented during a festive gathering in November. More information about Vullings? Visit
