DUTCH MUSHROOM DAYS Preview Mushroom Days

The 33rd edition of the Dutch Mushroom Days is poised to start in Den Bosch. This event traditionally showcases the very latest innovations for the mushroom industry, and suppliers display their latest offerings in more than 70 booths. Here’s a – limited – preview of what you can expect at the fair.

Dalsem Mushroom Projects,

stand 54 Dalsem introduces “the latest, most modern climate computer control system in the market”, according to the company. The system is available in stand-alone and network versions. Dalsem Mushroom Projects develops, engineers and manufactures its own state of the art computer control systems. Offering a full colour, 7 inch touch screen, graphical displays and all the latest climate control features (moisture deficit, absolute moisture, eva- poration, RH at inlet controls), the system is designed to make the cultivation control process much easier. A 24-volt transformer (to supply power to servo motors and actu- ators), notepad report capabilities and user access controls are included as standard features at no additional cost. The Dalsem Plant Control Software is pre-installed on the Dalsem PC and fully designed to be touch operated. With a full cultivation program, graphics, communication software and data storage, this control system is complete and “ready to run for now and years to come”. Dalsem uses innovative technologies and high-quality materials, customised to the smallest detail to suit growers’ wishes and the local climate situation. It’s therefore no surprise that compost yards and mushroom farms all over the world have been using their products and services for many years. Dalsem Mushroom Projects BV is part of the Dalsem group, an organisation which ranks as one of the leading players in the realisation of horticultural and mushroom projects worldwide. Dalsem is a family-run company. It was established in 1932 and has its head office in Den Hoorn, in the famous Dutch ‘Westland’ agricultural region. The company invites you to stand 54 where you can see the Dalsem Computer Control System in action.

Euromycel, stand 7

Euromycel, owned by the famous French agribusiness mul- tinational Bonduelle since 2010, has provided and offered its best varieties to the entire mushroom world under the name Euromycel since 2000. Today, it is a well-established name on the Eastern European market and ready to rank among the major players in the spawn business. Director Frédéric Mathieu, who has persuaded his sha- reholder to continue with the spawn activity, can depend on a young, dynamic team. He is convinced that one of the keys to success is the synergy and the research and de- velopment potential that has become available within the integrated company. The challenge ahead is managing the entire mushroom chain, from producing spawn to selling mushrooms, while Euromycel’s objective is stabilising and improving the varieties used. With export sales growth up by two figures, a very succes- sful intermediate white hybrid (E58) on the market, several investment projects, and the backing of its shareholder, Euromycel is facing a very promising future indeed (see also Mushroom Business 55). Dofra, Climate control system by Dalsem.

stand 40 Automatic watering systems for mushrooms cultivated on shelves have been a fixed feature of mushroom growing for decades. Originally using the lorry system, which used cables to move the watering lorry along the shelves, and more recently using a system of hoses or pipes. Automatically watering mushrooms grown in stac- ked trays is generally a more complex matter than watering mushrooms in shelves. The trays are not always positioned in exactly the same place on the floor, and not always aligned neatly. In addition, the space between the trays to be watered is more li- mited than the space between the beds in shelving systems. And this limited space simply becomes even more restricted as the mushrooms grow.
