urban planners, energy companies and others who are convinced that the rightness of their ideas for the greater good should be shouldered by the landowner with little, if any, due process, and with the lowest possible payment compen- sation. This is wrong thinking and

an insidious encroachment on your property rights. I am work- ing with other TSCRA members and the staff to educate the public and present information to state elected officials. Your associa- tion, along with other land own- er groups, is holding a series of meetings with members and non- members soon to discuss ways to strengthen private property rights in eminent domain cases. TSCRA and other organizations are also launching a campaign, “Texans for Property Rights” to provide meaningful reform to eminent domain laws. You can visit tex- ansforpropertyrights.com to fi nd more information, view meeting dates and share your personal ex- periences with eminent domain. I hope you will attend one of these meetings and visit the association website at tscra.org to help TSCRA with these efforts. The 85th regular session of

the Texas Legislature begins Jan. 10, 2017. TSCRA sees a need to strengthen the position of the pri- vate landowner in cases of city annexation and will advocate for better processes that will give the landowner proper notice and a say in the annexation decision. I encourage you to share your

experiences with city annexation or eminent domain with TSCRA. And if you are not a member of TSCRA, I ask you to join to help strengthen our voice on behalf of private property rights.
