ATTLESOFT INC. HAS UPDATED ITS popular app, The Cattle
Tags App. “Electronic identification
provides increased effi ciencies through time savings, reduced errors and easier data collection. Retailers have been using scanners for decades, so why are cattle producers still manually entering ear tags?” questioned Terrell Miller, founder of CattleSoft. Answering this question led to creating the initial
version of The Cattle Tags App. The App has a session mode that enables producers to organize their cattle processing into sessions. Once an animal’s electronic identifi cation (EID) tag is scanned with an RFID (ra- dio frequency identifi cation) reader, the producer has the option to enter a visual tag and/or weight into the app. The date and time of scan, as well as GPS coor- dinates, are automatically collected and stored with the animal’s scan. After cattle have been worked, the collected data can be emailed as a spreadsheet fi le. An internet connection is only required when emailing the spreadsheet fi le. Producers using CattleMax, CattleSoft’s herd man-
agement software, can use The Cattle Tags App to ac- cess an animal’s record through its EID Tag scanned information. If an EID number is not found, the pro- ducer has the choice of adding a new animal with the EID or associating the EID with an existing animal. The app is a free download in the Apple Store and
works on iPhones and iPads. The app requires an iOS/ Apple-compatible RFID reader. It supports the Allfl ex RS420 EID Reader and Allfl ex LPR Livestock Pocket Reader. Learn more and fi nd compatible EID readers at
