Cattle Raisers Convention Rapidly Approaching TSCRA News

T

he association staff is ramping up with Convention preparations! Details and

speakers are being fi nalized, Expo vendors booked, materials ordered and volunteers scheduled — the list of action items seems endless and yet, by convention week, all will be ready for another great weekend packed full of information, fellowship and fun. We urge you to attend for whatever time you have available; we expect this year to be the biggest and best convention ever. Interestingly, the very fi rst issue of The

Cattleman, June 1914, included a report on the 38th Annual Convention of the Cattle Raisers Association of Texas (now Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association). It was described as “one of the most successful in the history of the organization. The atten- dance of members was far above the average, and many were accompanied by their wives and other members of their families. “The convention program… proved to be

one of unusual interest, showing careful study of conditions and being both instructive and entertaining. The cattlemen realize that a new day is dawning in the cattle business…” Each convention does seem to be bigger

and better and yet, many of our concerns remain the same, year after year — cattle theft, livestock inspection and government regulations. Cattlemen continue to grow and adapt to new information and technologies while continuing the tradition to honor and protect the ranching way of life. One hundred and three years after the 1914

report, we still strive to exceed the successes of each preceding convention. Watch for de- tails in upcoming issues of The Cattleman magazine. Check out the lineup of speakers and exhibitors in the included Outsert or at cattleraisersconvention.com. Register today — you won’t be disappointed! ❚
