ADVERTORIAL PROBLEM-FREE
SLIMMING WITH KERAKOLL
Slim porcelain has many advantages; the tiles use less material making them quicker to fire and lighter to transport, earning them brownie points on the environmental front, and they
can be used directly on top of existing coverings in renovation work. However, the downside is that they are more prone to cracking if not installed correctly.
A SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR THIN TILES Kerakoll’s C10 system is designed specifically for thin or very large tiles. It can be used for new or renovation projects. It has the added advantage that all components have very low VOC emissions meaning minimal effects on human health.

The Substrate: Keracem Eco As always good preparation is key to
success, with the substrate needing to be perfectly stable. Keracem Eco is a rapid- drying binder designed to be used to create high performance and heat radiant slabs. It can be tiled on after 24 hours.
Levelling - Keratech Eco R10 Keratech Eco R10 is a self-levelling
compound for use in thicknesses between 1 and 10mm which quickly develops a smooth finish and high levels of mechanical resistance making the subsequent laying of all sorts of coverings easy. The smooth, perfectly even finish is important for thin tiles. In addition, it is ready to walk on after two hours, allowing other contractors to carry on accessing the site, and is ready for tiling after 12 hours, a big consideration where time is tight.

Tile Adhesive - H40 Eco Flex The use of a flexible adhesive
guarantees that if there are small movements in the substrate, this will be absorbed and not passed through to the tile. H40 Eco Flex fully covers the tile and substrate which is extremely important for thin tiles - there must be no gaps between
the tile and the substrate. In cases were very large tiles are used, it is probably best to consider back buttering to ensure full coverage.
For renovation projects, ensure that any existing substrate is sound and stable before proceeding. Where tiling on to an anhydrite screed, it is essential to apply Primer A Eco before tiling.
