WHAT’S NEW? HAND DRYERS ENHANCE
GIRL GUIDE HUT Jet Towel hand dryers are part of a donation made by Mitsubishi Electric to Girlguiding Guessens District, who are rebuilding their 90-year-old hut in Welwyn Garden City, 25 miles north of the centre of London.
Each week over 200 girls aged 5–16 attend and participate in group activities. The hut is also a resource for over 340 girls and 35 volunteer adult leaders from other groups across the district.
The old hut, which had been in use since the 1920s, had been showing its age. It was too small for today’s needs and had little heat or sound insulation. The toilets were in poor condition and disability access was limited.
Significantly, the new building is intended to secure guiding in Welwyn Garden City, so that many more girls and young women can benefit from it.
Neil Butler, Jet Towel Sales Manager for Mitsubishi Electric, said: “Girlguiding does so much to encourage girls to achieve their potential that I am delighted we are able to support them in such a practical way.”
Jet Towels are high performance dryers that offer many advantages in installations such as guide huts. They are very quiet in operation, so their use is unlikely to disturb activities in the main hall. They dry hands in about 10 seconds, a third of the time of conventional hot air dryers, which is important because there are likely to be busy periods at the beginning and end of each session.
Jet Towels do not blast vast quantities of hot air over the users’ hands as traditional dryers do. Instead precision designed nozzles direct a high speed laminar flow of air over the hands to remove moisture from the hands as droplets rather than as evaporation, thus reducing the
dispersal of microbes and bacteria and minimising hygiene risks.
Significantly for organisations like the Guides, Jet Towels’ running costs are very low.

TCFM & REMPLOY
CELEBRATE 1,000 JOBS On 23rd March TCFM celebrated the arrival of their 1,000th employee, Tarik Miah and their longest serving employee, David Kenneally.
Tarik Miah, the cleaning operative at Tesco Canton, near Cardiff, commenced work in December after a successful interview and work trial.
He was joined by David Kenneally who was one of the first candidates to be placed through Remploy

almost 10 years ago, when the partnership started in 2006.
TCFM re-signed their partnership with Remploy last year, committing to place the 1,000th candidate who has found work through their relationship, which now spans over 10 years.
Tarik and David were joined by a number of people from both TCFM and Remploy.
