COVER STORY

floors in perfect condition at all times. Control of chemical, water flow, rapid drying, cable-free machines and noise levels are therefore critical.

Productivity – Many venues are now multi-functional, meaning that the window for cleaning is much reduced. Modern cleaning equipment must therefore clean faster whilst still providing a perfect finish. Working speed and run times have to be higher and there has to be less dump and refill.

Cost of ownership – Most contract cleaners and institutions are now looking into the running costs of equipment more than the price of the machine when it is purchased. For example, an on-board chemical dispensing system can help the operator to control the detergent usage thereby reducing the cost of chemical in its lifetime considerably. Power and water consumption is also critical, utility costs are higher than ever and impact the bottom line significantly.

Ergonomics – The easier and more comfortable our machines are to handle for the operators, the better cleaning result you get: easier to drive, lighter, easier to transport and easier to use.

THE DRIVE FOR 'GREEN' Green issues are an important consideration in our industry as environmental responsibilities dictate that buyers and users of machines demand a more environmentally friendly cleaning solution. A scrubber dryer is now expected to save

water, detergent and energy in daily use. Additionally a commercial cleaning machine is expected to be manufactured using less raw material and materials that are easier to dispose of in an environmentally conscious way.

Nilfisk development teams however, felt that the need for ‘green’ should not sacrifice or compromise the cleaning result. The Ecoflex system was born out of this philosophy, recognising that it is not necessary to sacrifice cleaning results for environmental issues; a cleaning solution should not be just “green“ but clean too.

FLOOR TO CEILING PRODUCTS In becoming the customers preferred choice, having a complete, one-stop shop, floor to ceiling product offering was key. We have strengthened our product porfolio through numerous aquisitions and our range now includes scrubber dryers and sweepers, carpet care, industrial vacuums, pressure washers, outdoor utility machines and road sweepers.

Our development teams have worked globally to consolidate and develop the range further. From cost effective tub vacuums and battery operated floorcare to stand on scrubber dryers and grounds maintenance, the breadth of our existing range allows a professional buyer to trial, purchase, lease or hire any machine they require.

Recent product launches include the Nilfisk SC100, a small upright scrubber dryer that can deliver faster, easier and

three times more productive cleaning with a superior result to traditional manual cleaning methods. The new Nilfisk SC2000 micro ride-on scrubber dryer increases cleaning productivity by up to 50% for less investment than a standard walk behind machine. Additionally the Nilfisk VP600 energy saving, low-noise tub vacuum is delivered with a HEPA H13 exhaust filter as standard for improved air quality. The clever addition of a power boost feature adds additional cleaning muscle to the 800w machine with a press of a button.

SO WHAT OF THE FUTURE? The Nilfisk Group has declared a new global strategy for the next three years. Accelerate is focused on growing market share. There are four main strategic levers; strengthening the front end, driving competitive offerings, building strong brands and continuing to improve our supply chain performance.

Continued product innovation is instrumental to our success, above all else our goal is to provide customers with solutions, not products alone. Listening to our customers is the most important thing, and we are committed to do our best to live up to their expectations and meet their needs, whatever they may be.
