IN THE MONEY

Karndean Designflooring has helped to create the ultimate workspace with a wow factor for money.co.uk.

With the assistance of Laurence Llewelyn- Bowen, founder and serial entrepreneur of money.co.uk, Chris Morling has been successful in his mission of creating the ultimate workspace for his Cirencester-based independent comparison website’s headquarters.

Designed by Interaction, a design and build specialist from Bath, and designer and TV personality Laurence Llewlyn-Bowen, the 10,000ft2

offers unique themed rooms in order to keep staff engaged and energised with spaces including the ice cave, ski lodge, kitchen and hotel-style break out area featuring luxury vinyl flooring from Karndean Designflooring.

The Grade II listed Victorian castle, which is the base for a growing team of 50 money.co.uk employees, has been sympathetically restored as part of the £3m project and now offers a range of on-site luxuries such as a Star Wars- themed cinema complete with popcorn machine.

“You spend half your working life in the office and I wanted to create a motivating, uplifting environment which gave my team flexibility and encouraged collaboration,” commented Chris Morling, founder and managing director of money.co.uk.

He said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for us to add rooms and equipment to facilitate a more flexible and productive working environment. Importantly, our original design concept came from asking the team what they wanted from a working space, so ultimately all our decisions have been based around those needs.

“When your team truly feels valued and their opinions are listened to, they feel empowered, and that’s worth far more than any of the perks and benefits we offer.”

Working with Interaction and money. co.uk, Karndean matched the design brief by supplying 36” x 3” Da Vinci Wood planks in three contrasting oak colourways – American Oak, Fresco Light Oak and Natural Oak - and matching

flooring throughout helped create a visual path through the space at the same time as giving each space its own identity.

The unique white tile and plank combination has been cut to size with the intention of creating a sense of the kitchen units merging into the floor for a seamless and modern look, whereas the timber effect complements the industrial brass lighting.

Installed by R B Flooring Ltd based in Corsham, Karndean’s Da Vinci wood also features in a herringbone design throughout the chalet room, ski lodge and reception. There’s also Karndean’s metallic Opus Ferra 18” x 24” tile in the changing area of the free onsite weights gym and cardio studio where staff can enjoy free weekly games of basketball and football, and Opus Niveus 48” x 9” planks in the statement lips urinals.
