WSMA News x WSMA Middle Level State Honors Project
Dedicated students from across the state are scheduled for late March and early April auditions with aspirations to represent their school in this year’s Middle Level State Honors Band, Choir or Orchestra. Au- dition results will be mailed in early June. The audition selection com- mittee members include Chris Gleason of Sun Prairie Patrick Marsh Middle School (Middle Level State Honors past chair), Marcia Rus- sell of Platteville Middle School (Middle Level State Honors chair), Michael Chapel of Brown Deer Middle School (choir coordinator) and Ginger Marten of Lincoln High School (orchestra coordinator). New to her position and the committee this year is Patricia Schlafer of Mount Horeb Middle School (band coordinator).

Middle Level State Honors staff will meet at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education in Waunakee on Friday, July 7 for their traditional summer workday. The workday provides an op- portunity to review music, review staff duties and expectations, prepare student mailings, preview the student event schedule and network with fellow staff members.
Rehearsals will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Waunakee Community High school. The Middle Level State Honors Concerts will be held in the Performing Arts Center of Waunakee Com- munity High School on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Wisconsin School Musician x WSMA Festival News
Thousands of volunteers work together to make WSMA Festivals successful. Teachers, music parents and community members devote countless hours toward the success of student musicians by serving as directors, organizers, office person- nel, room monitors, concession workers, results runners, and anything else that might be needed. Leading and organizing the events are the festival managers. Their leadership and dedica- tion are greatly appreciated by colleagues, student participants, adjudicators and the entire WSMA staff.
