Back in the early days, core business was four scientific meetings per year and, not surprisingly, that is the one feature of Society activities that has remained a constant. We like to think that the quality of these meetings speak for themselves. No matter what can be done by telecon or literature searches, there is no substitute for getting together in one room to hear about the happening trends of the day from leading experts and exchange views / ideas during intervals and dinners (no longer PC to mention “in the bar afterwards”) to very rapidly get up to date with new and important developments in chromatography. We endeavour to do this with all our meetings and still have time for topics with more of a niche interest (maybe MSD this year, definitely Ian Wilson’s TLC and etymology in the 80’s).
The details of our special meetings for our 60th year are set out elsewhere in this issue and on our website. We hope you will join us to enjoy these celebratory events and also for the next 60 years if you get that far!

Yes it Really is a Gas Chromatograph !!
