News 11 Join the fun for free So much to do - and it won’t cost you a penny


SUMMER’S not over yet - and there’s still plenty of FREE activities all over the city to keep you and the family busy. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Glasgow Life to tell you about some of the free events available right on your doorstep. From getting help looking for work online to monthly tea parties, there’s something for everyone - and it won’t cost you a penny.


Check out the library Glasgow libraries and community


centres offer everything from book clubs to knitting clubs and from computer classes to family history groups. Libraries also offer a range of digital learning classes, including advice on using the internet. The Goals 4 Work programme offers


tailored support to highlight the benefits of using a computer for job searching and CV writing. ‘Getting Started’ classes are on offer and volunteers are on hand to help you log on and get the most out of using the internet.


The popular Blue Light event returns on 17-18 September - a chance to learn more about frontline services and see the vehicles and appliances from the people who keep Scotland safe.

Get creative Glasgow Arts also runs ‘Revitalise’ arts and crafts classes across the city which are FREE for GHA tenants. The classes cover creative techniques including painting, drawing and jewellery. For details of classes in your area, call 0300 343 0400. Glasgow Arts is looking to set up two writing and drama groups with older adults at the Netherton Community Centre, in Knightswood. They’re working with theatre director Fiona Miller.
