NM Buckskin HA’s April 8-9 shows, held in

tional Collegiate Equestrian Association Champi- onship title April 15 in Waco. Though the Aggies came into the meet seeded fifth, they stayed hot through 4 matches, defeating Georgia 11-5 in the fi- nals. Aggies earning Most Outstanding Player recog- nition were Rebekah Chenelle (Eq-Flat), Avery Ellis (Horsemanship), and Sarah McIntire (Reining).

at AWSCHA’s March 19 event in Sulphur Springs. John marked a 71 on Catty Doc Legacy, owned by Randy Free.


Susan Morris, Normanna, had a successful


show at Alamo Arabian Spring Fiesta, sponsored by Alamo Arabian Horse Club and held at San Antonio Rose Palace March 23-26. Morris’s 2-year-old sorrel gelding, Rusty Dun It Smart aka :Rusty”, won In- Hand Halter Geldings, while Rosebuds Lasso aka “Pistol” won Ranch Horse Conformation.

ing mail April 5. She got her trophy buckle for being Intermediate of the Year for Louisiana and a Justin Boots certificate for the same, plus another Justin Boots certificate for being one of the top ten Inter- mediates in the nation! Her proud parents are Sally and Rawhide Blackwell.

Losses Ronnie Dutile, 67, New Iberia, LA, died March


18. He was a horse lover, enjoyed riding in weekend horse competitions, and had won several awards in such.


Peptos Little Red, known affectionately as


Chicken, went to Horse-Heaven April 9, leaving his owner, Jana Lowe, Livingston, mourning him. He was a kind, gentle horse, without a dishonest bone in his body. Trained by Mitch Farris, Chicken had al- most $40,000 in combined ACHA and NCHA earn- ings. He didn’t require much practice so Lowe always joked that she would just show him a training video
