would offer a new post cast fi nishing space for certain product lines and allow for continued upgrades and streamlin- ing of the production process. The new space will also allow for the production of new products as well as give the com- pany the ability to serve new clients. And it will add space for loading docks, modern electrical and bigger machinery, as well as more space for employees. Hitchiner is hoping to hire about 35

new workers for the new additions. The company is currently in discussions with several new customers, and if those dis- cussions pan out across the board, new product lines could potentially bring in an additional 200 workers and prompt the need for an additional stand-alone building.

Hitchiner currently has 637 em-

ployees in Milford. This expansion plan is part of the metal casting com- pany’s long-term plan to be a leader in its fi eld. Not simply in quality, but in clean manufacturing. Hitchiner has a goal of reducing, reusing and recycling throughout its manufacturing and engi- neering process. Over the past decade, the Milford plant has become one of the most environmentally balanced in the state. Hitchiner supports the automo- tive, aerospace and defense markets by working with companies such as BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, General Mo- tors and Volkswagen.
