Our story started 60 years ago. We wanted to create something that supported the community, kept our families and values strong and would give a future to what we believed in. We started with our first location in 1956 and we have since expanded to well over 45 locations in Southern Alberta. We celebrated our 60th anniversary this past fall with pride and have plans to remain strong and viable for another 60 years.

NORM RUBBELKE

This past year we have grown in several areas of our operation. We have two brand new Cardlocks. One in Taber and one in Bow Island, a new fertilizer plant, a massive renovation of our Northlands Food Store, the construction of a new Admin office and several new projects and acquisitions on the horizon. We have implemented our 5year growth strategy along with a tentative 10year operation plan. With these new opportunities, we are also working on strengthening and growing our existing locations through careful planning and execution of goals.

We anticipate healthy growth in our petroleum division due to the long overdue rejuvenation of the oil and gas sector. Our gas bars are showing growth in litres where nationally there is a downward trend. This reinforces that our customer service and values help us stay strong and even grow during tough economic times.

We are confident as a Board that our growth strategy and operational plans will keep us financially healthy and prosperous well into the future.

For 2016, South Country Co-op members will share $13.1 million in member refunds. With $10.4 million of that paid back in cash! In addition to our dividend payouts, we also donated approximately $200,000 to local organizations to help with fundraisers, sporting events, local functions and more.

On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing us to serve you once again. If there is anything myself or the Board of Directors can do to serve you better, please do not hesitate to contact me. We wish you a year of great successes and prosperity.
