overall sales and earnings impacted last year. Sales were $23 million less than budget and margins were down by $3 million. However with tighter controls on expenses our overall net savings was only down by less than a million dollars.


In 2016 we achieved sales of over $411 million dollars. We are now the fourth largest Retail Co-op in Western Canada. Our net savings was almost $21 million or 5.1%.


Over the past year we have continued to renovate and expand our business. It is critical for our organization to continue investing in sustainable initiatives and new development. In 2017 we will continue to look for new opportunities in all business lines that will benefit our members. One of our major projects this year will be the complete renovation to our Northlands Food Store, which will include all new refrigeration and equipment.


Congratulations, we successfully made it through our first year of the new South Country Co-op. A special thanks to the Board, Management & Staff for their hard work this past year and also thanks to all of you, our members for your support and patience during this transition. As a team we make it our goal to provide excellent customer service and make you feel at home here with every interaction and transaction. We are proud of our Co-op and we are committed to provide our members with products and services that sustain our business practices and support the communities in which we live work and play.

One thing we have to remember is that change is constant. Our competition is continually changing and we must challenge ourselves to always look for new and exciting ways to do business in our ever expanding market. We must continue to be relevant for our members.
