Broadstone Middle School, Age 9-13
We have changed the way we look at raising money for charity at Broadstone Middle school.
Previously we tended to have a number of 'days' and 'events' each year and, whilst they were often highly successful in themselves, this approach to fundraising seemed a little piecemeal events got the children to really think deeply about the charities they were raising funds for. We were acutely aware of the rising costs and expectations on parents to prepare and contribute for these charity days too.
Therefore, we have streamlined the process by selecting both a local and a national charity to raise funds for this academic year and have concentrated our activities, so that the fundraising process is more meaningful and manageable – while, of course, remaining fun!
voted for was Monkey World. Our charity week
about the charity and the valuable work it does around the globe. Our fundraising ideas included bringing in old blankets as well as cake sales and chocolate tombolas. We had Wacky Friday Fun.
We held assemblies where we were
visited by staff at Monkey World and we sold gifts from their souvenir
shop. In total, we raised over £1,200.
Our national charity this year
Research UK and we are looking forward to get real value and education from these experiences as well as supporting a worthy cause in the best possible way.
