As a young stallion, Roosevelt was approved at the Hanove-
rian stallion licensing in Verden, Germany and moved to Den- mark as a breeding stallion. Tere, he has produced a licensed son in Sweden and his sons Cognac and Stall K Roosenstein are currently successful FEI dressage horses in Sweden and Norway. Hans Peter Minderhoud competed Roosevelt in the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, earning fifth place. He was then sold to the U.S., becoming a star for Brock and the Kundruns. Another Hanoverian star at the 2016 Olympic Games was
American-bred Selten HW. He competed on the Danish team with Anders Dahl. Selten HW was bred by Irene Hoeflich- Wiederhold of HW Farm in Cape Coral, Florida. His sire is Sandro Hit, a top stallion at Paul Schockemöhle’s farm who won the World Cham- pionship for Young Dressage Horses at age six. After retir- ing from the show ring, Sandro Hit became a world- class breeding stallion and is now ranked third in the world as a dressage sire (WBFSH sire rankings, 2016) ahead of Jazz, Florestan, Don

Schufro and Negro (sire of Valegro). Selten HW’s dam, High Princess, is by Hohenstein and out of the Donnerhall daughter Davina. Selten HW is the only horse in history to win the Markel/
USEF Young & Developing Horse Dressage National Champi- onships three years in a row, earning USDF Horse of the Year titles as well. His owner, Elizabeth Ball, then consigned him to the 2012 Elite Auction of Holland, where he sold for 500,000 euros to British Olympian Fiona Bigwood and her husband, Anders Dahl. Dahl and Selten HW have formed an incredible partnership and was the most successful pair on the 2014 Euro- pean small tour, undefeated with scores of 80-plus percent. He earned the title of “Horse of the Year” in British year-end dres- sage awards. Germany won the 2016 Olympic team gold medal in dres-
sage with a stunning team score of 81.936%. Two outstanding Hanoverian horses on their team helped bring those gold medals home: Desperados FRH and Showtime FRH. Despera- dos FRH is a 16-year-old black Hanoverian stallion sired by De Niro (Donnerhall–Alicante/Akzent II), the leading sire of dres- sage horses in the world. Desperados FRH’s dam is SPS Wie

Musik, a daughter of the Weltmeyer son Wolkenstein II. He is a shining example of the best of Hanoverian bloodlines. Desperados FRH’s path to winning Olympic gold and indi-
vidual bronze medals in Rio has been like a rocket launch since he first exploded onto the European dressage scene. After win- ning the 2010 German Dressage Derby, Kristina Bröring-Sprehe took over the reins and the rest is history. Teir Grand Prix victories include Rotterdam, Verden, Olden- burg, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Perle- Borg, CHIO Aachen and a Grand Prix Special in Dortmund. In 2012, he earned two bronze medals at the German Dressage Championships in Balve and a team silver medal at the Olympic Games in Lon- don. Highlights of 2014 included victories in the German Dressage Championships, Nations Cup at the CHIO Aachen and the World Equestrian Games in Caen, France. Te highlight of 2015 was his second German dressage championship in two years and helping the Germans bring home the team bronze medal at the European Championship at Aachen. He also won the individual European Reserve Championship in Grand Prix Special and Freestyle. As a young stallion, Desperados FRH was awarded pre-

mium status at the 2004 German Hanoverian licensing. He won the 2004 Hanoverian Dressage Championships and earned two bronze medals at the German Young Horse Champion- ships (Bundeschampionat). In 2011, he won the Otto-Lörke Trophy, a title awarded annually to the best German Grand Prix prospect. Quite an honor for this stunning coal black colt bred by Herbert Schütt of Hemmoor—clearly a star from the day he was born. Te other Hanoverian on Germany’s gold medal winning
team was Showtime FRH (Sandro Hit–Rosaria Alpina/ Rotspon) with Dorothee Schneider on board. “Showi,” as he is nicknamed, placed seventh in the 2011 World Breeding Dres- sage Championships for Young Horses. He was also sixth at the Bundeschampionat as a five-year-old. In 2015, his break- through in the Grand Prix was a victory in the Grand Prix
