Luxury travellers are used to holidaying in style, but customers at Kuoni’s newest shop really can expect to be treated like royalty.
The high-end agency chain is to open a shop in Queen Victoria’s former waiting room in Windsor railway station. The store will have an opulent and vintage theme, including seating areas modelled on Victorian train booths, a leather armchair, old suitcases and model trains. Upstairs, in the former stationmaster’s office, will be space for private appointments. The store, opposite Windsor
Castle, is being refurbished ahead of its opening on September 30. The original royal waiting room
was built in 1897 at Windsor & Eton Central – now a shopping complex called Windsor Royal Shopping – and there is a replica of the train engine once used to drive the Queen’s train at the station. It was also the scene of an attempt on Queen Victoria’s life in 1882. Helen Roberts, Kuoni sales
