Letter from the President
On behalf of the entire NKBA California Capital Chapter, I would like to welcome you to the 6th annual Kitchen and Bath Design and Remodeling Guide and Member Directory. In the following pages we showcase our 2017 Design Competition winners and their amazing projects. Once again, our entries did not disappoint! They were phenomenal, surpassing last year’s submissions with amazing ingenuity and craftsmanship - truly inspirational!
Noteworthy NKBA ‘National’ awards go to our very own Chapter. We took home 2 NKBA Star Awards for 'Best Chapter Fundraiser' and 'Best Chapter Design Competition' at KBIS 2017 in Orlando. For NKBA National's 2017 Design Competition, Elma Gardner of By Design in Davis and Nar Bustamante of Nar Fine Carpentry, Inc. in Carmichael came home with awards, as well! Elma won 1st place in the Large Kitchen category and also won the 'Best Kitchen' award. Nar took home an Honorable Mention in the Large Kitchen category. I would also like to acknowledge Ashley Richardson, also of Nar Fine Carpentry, Inc. and Cindy Garten of Unique Techniques in El Dorado Hills. Ashley was chosen as one of the exceptional young professionals to win the NKBA's ’30 under 30’ Award and Cindy won 2nd place in the Small Bathroom category in NKBA National 's 2016 Design Competition. Congratulations to you all!!
This issue is a great resource guide for homeowners and is filled with innovation, artistry and new products and materials, offering extraordinary ideas for your home and remodeling projects. Also included is a listing of our industry professionals who can help with any kitchen and bathroom project you have planned. Examples of projects, designed and built by certified NKBA design professionals and contractors as well as expert advice and materials supplied by qualified NKBA vendors and fabricators can be found through-out the directory.
2016 has been amazing and it is hard to believe that we are already into the New Year! Looking back at our year’s events; networking and educational programs, the Annual Golf Tournament co-hosted with NARI of Sacramento, an Educational Day at the Art Institute, our Annual Design Competition and Holiday Awards Dinner and the Inaugural Sacramento Regional Design and Build Expo at The Old Sugar Mill with David Garibaldi, this past May. This event was a huge success with funds raised going to Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for the Robinson Family. Proceeds also went to providing educational scholarships and continuing education credits for our members and helping our chapter protect their right to practice. Stay tuned for more information about the 2nd Annual SRDBEvent at the Milagro Center on May 12th, 2017 and our new and exciting chapter programs for 2017!
It has been a great honor to again serve as your President, working alongside some very talented and hardworking people. I am so very thankful to have such an enthusiastic, and supportive board, dedicated Industry Partners and active chapter members. Thank you all, who have given your time and talents to NKBA! Your efforts are clearly evident in everything our Chapter does and none of these activities would have been possible without all of you. NKBA California Capital Chapter is such a great and supportive organization - I encourage all of you to get involved at whatever level feels comfortable.
