Action Fraud

Action Fraud is the UK’s national fraud reporting centre to which you should report fraud if you have been scammed or defrauded. The centre provides a central point of contact for information about fraud and financially motivated internet crime.

Its services are run by the National Fraud Authority, which is the government agency that helps to co-ordinate the fight against fraud in the UK. Action Fraud receives and assesses all reports of fraud across the UK to facilitate a fuller understanding of the extent of fraud criminality.

Action Fraud reports are reviewed within the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which is hosted by the City of London Police. This ensures that fraud reports reach the right place for enforcement, intelligence or disruption activity.

How to report fraud and internet crime

You can report fraud using the online fraud reporting service at www.actionfraud.police.uk on a 24/7 basis. The Action Fraud website also contains information about various frauds together with support and prevention advice.

Action Fraud will not call you unless you have contacted the centre, and you will not be asked for your bank details. If you are unsure whether a call is genuine, call the Action Fraud team on 0300 123 2040 (textphone 0300 123 2050). Please note that this number will be charged at your normal network rate.
