The majority of problems occur due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of the culture, country or countries that are being visited. Suzy Lamplugh Trust

TRAVELLING ALONE

There are particular risks associated with travelling alone. It is generally accepted that business women can encounter more problems than their male counterparts when going overseas on business, often because of the cultural conservatism of particular countries.

Every country has different rules and cultural and religious values, and your employer may use an external adviser to advise on specific risks. Even in the most apparently liberal of countries, however, women can still be subject not only to second class treatment but sexual harassment and intimidation.

Adopting specific measures can help reduce risk or alleviate anxiety.
