Airport Information What’s up at YWG? I
t’s great to give. It’s the season of giving, which makes it a great time to highlight some of the recognition Winnipeg Air- ports Authority has been fortunate to receive from
fantastic organizations, and provide to distinguished com- panies within the community.
Manitoba’s Top 25 Employers for 2017 For the sixth consecutive year, Winnipeg Airports Au-
thority is humbled to be named one of Manitoba’s Top Em- ployers for 2017. Manitoba’s Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes industry leaders for being an outstanding place to work. Employers are evaluated using eight criteria: performance management; work atmosphere and social; physical work- place; vacation and time off; employee communications; health, financial and family benefits; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are measured against their fellow industry colleagues to deter- mine which has the most future-forward and refreshing workplace. WAA credits much of the success here to an in- spired, professional and dedicated staff team.
Employee Session Awards Cementing just how dedicated the staff they have are,
WAA recently held Employee Service Awards for staff in a fifth anniversary of their career on the airport campus, from five years up to 35 years of service. Approximately 25 indi- viduals received this recognition and were presented with awards to commemorate their contributions to success of the airport and WAA overall. Well done!
33rd Annual Manitoba Chambers of Commerce MBiz Awards – Outstanding Large Business
Winnipeg Airports Authority was also honoured to be named a finalist in the MBiz Awards within the Outstand- ing Large Business category. Established in 1983 to cele- brate commercial achievements in the Manitoba business community, the MBiz Awards recognize seven businesses and/or people who contribute to Manitoba’s employment, enjoy a strong partnership with their employees, and move beyond their market to champion community development. WAA is proud to have been named one of the top three Manitoba organizations in this category, and will continue to pursue higher heights for their community.

Priory Vote of Tanks St. John Ambulance Manitoba bestowed WAA with a
Priory Vote of Tanks due to involvement and partnership with SJA in the YWG Terapy Dog program. Te distinc- tion is given in recognition of exemplary, dedicated service, assistance or support to the Order of St. John Canada on a particular occasion or over a period of years — a program that has garnered nationwide acclaim (alongside similar programs at other Canadian airports) and plenty of fantas- tic feelings for our airport’s travellers and visitors alike.
ACI Carbon Winnipeg Richardson International Airport was recently
recognized for distinguished achievement in environmen- tal accountability. Te airport is one of only six airports in Canada and one of 20 in North America certified under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. Tis recognition under the program’s Level One Map- ping complements WAA’s achievements in sustainability, which also includes becoming the Canada’s first airport to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED certified, and the second corporation in Canada to earn a Fair Trade Workplace Designation from Fairtrade Canada.
