Aſter establishing that the mean fractal dimension does deviate from an efficient case we can now look at how the fractal dimension slices are distributed and how this changes for different slice sizes. The standard deviation of the distribution of fractal dimensions is particularly interesting since a lower standard deviation implies that the character of the series remains more constant through time.


Since predictability


requires both a deviation from randomness and a persistence of the character of this behavior through time we


expect that


series for which the deviation is lower will be more suitable for the creation of historically profitable algorithmic trading strategies.
