TIMATECANADA MAGAZINE

Number 20 Volume 9

I have played Ultimate for over 10 years and have dedicated most of that career to playing, training, scouting and practicing. It’s not often you get to take in national level Ultimate as a spectator, or in my case, a broadcaster. I watched more live Ultimate in 2016 than I have in any other year. It’s amazing to see the progress in junior development across the country since I was a junior. The university championship is ever expanding (almost to the size of CUC) and it’s so great to witness all that the community is doing to promote gender and age equity.

As a player, you often forget to take stock and evaluate the goings-on around you. I am generally focused on my own team, my own games and my own play. When I get the chance to survey the greater landscape, it’s great to see how far we have come and how much we can continue to grow.

Summer 2016

This edition of the Ultimate Canada Magazine is a very special 20th issue and is chocked full of awesome stories, great photography and more. Our regional stories section is the most diverse to date, covering small town Ultimate, a WJUC bid and even a trip to Labrador into an Innu community. Canada has announced its World Games and World Beach contingents so be sure to check out the rosters. Find all the CUC results in one place and check out pages 12-14 for an in- depth look at CUUC from Montreal. Naomi Redmond returns for a second consecutive issue with an exclusive Q & A with Ultimate Canada’s new strength and conditioning coach, Mike Haddock.

Please share and enjoy this 20th edition of the Ultimate Canada Magazine and, as always, I’ll see you on the field.
