irie Disc Golf Club being very active. Northeastern British Columbia hasn`t had the large uctured clubs or activities seen in AB until just recently. ate 2014, I helped formed the Dawson Creek Disc Golf ub, and they became a society shortly after. Alberta bs and players were instrumental to get the disc sports ne kicked off in northeastern B.C as well, contributing e, funds, consultation and labour. The inter-provincial laboration paid off, as it resulted in the “Battle of the ace” Disc Golf Tournament on Sept 4th, 2016 in Taylor C, and shortly thereafter the Ultimate: Battle of the Peace ent on September 17th, 2016 in Dawson Creek. The successful “Battle of the Peace” (BotP) tournament d participants from 11 towns and two provinces, some velling 1000km to play. The BotP was actually more of laboration between Fort St. John BC, Grande Prairie B and Dawson Creek B.C than a “battle,” as it set the ndation and networking needed for a similar Ultimate ent less than three weeks later. Many of the disc golf players at the BotP tourney are imate players as well, and thought the concept could transferred to an Ultimate event. I started planning for “Ultimate: Battle of the Peace” to take place Sept 17th,
16. The Ultimate event took place at the Northern Lights llege grounds in Dawson Creek, and it had Ultimate monstration, instructional and Ultimate matches at the d. The largest contingency was from Grande Prairie, d an instructional was led by Rick Murray and Gordie akstad.
The goal of the event was to show demand, and create ndation that would gain the attention of schools and the neral public; therefore get disc sports incorporated into ool programs and city infrastructure. The Ultimate: BotP ent on Sept 17th was a success; participants included dents and teachers from three cities. Shortly afterwards, FSJ Disc Sports Club formed their society and are now ng to have a weekly Ultimate game in the spring. The ent took place on the Northern Lights College sports d, and included their students, which now have plans

for a weekly game in the spring. Daredevil and the DCDGC donated Ultimate game discs to all interested parties. In early September, I contacted BC Ultimate, and Ultimate Canada for support before the event and they were able to facilitate a donation of Ultimate discs from the WFDF. Forty Ultimate discs have now been allocated for local schools in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, and a partnership has been created which will now result in disc sports being incorporated into their spring athletic programs. Even though Prince George and Peace River didn’t participate, there are now regular updates and planning sessions between the Peace Regions clubs with great events planned for the future.
