CINEMATOGRAPHY


In the first seconds of the trailer, there is a shot reverse shot amongst Mia and the casting directors. At first, when she talks straight to the camera we don’t know what is happening, yet after the reverse shot of the casting director, we see that she is auditioning for a role.


There are establishing shots of the city of Los Angeles tinted blue and purple, to add more of a dream-like sense to the city. As Mia walks around and enters the bar.


A pan shot upwards reveals that the person playing the piano is Sebastian. This is followed by a wide shot of both Sebastian an the piano with a spotlight shined upon him.


There is a tracking shot of Mia walking towards Sebastian facing her, which leads to an arc shot of them kissing. The immediate swirl in the camera’s position can represent the sudden euphoria felt by Mia. This is followed by a compilation of two shots and tracking shots of both Mia and Sebastian and in the cinema, there are various extreme close up shots of hands and faces where they are kissing, which is supposed to emphasizes the relationship between the two people.


Towards the end of the trailer, there is a range of aerial, arc, medium, close up and establishing shots which are encompassed by the extravagant musical numbers.
