Eastmonds, the Maidenhead-based accountancy practice, has recently appointed Annette Dean to the position of assistant accountant. Dean has moved from a practice in South West London where she has worked since she graduated from the University of Kent in 2015. She said: “I’m looking forward to joining Eastmonds and gaining experience in corporate finance.”
B2B sales generation agency Xcel Sales has promoted Natalie Radbourne (left) to telemarketing manager. She will work with Debbie Colyer and the expanding sales team at the firm’s new offices in Chineham Park, Basingstoke. Radbourne has 20 years’ sales experience, and has returned to work after taking a break in her career to bring up her twin boys. In addition, Fiona Atkinson (right), who has 17 years’ sales experience in various roles, has joined the firm as senior telemarking consultant. Jenny Linsell-Steatham, director at Xcel Sales, said: “We aim to rebuild the confidence of women and set them on a path to achieving success. Natalie has worked part-time within Xcel for the past two years and has taken advantage of initiatives such as flexible working hours, attention to work-life balance, and training opportunities. I am very pleased she has now stepped up to this full-time role.”
The Royal Berkshire Conference Centre has appointed David Boomer as head of sales whilst Lauren Vincent is on maternity leave. Boomer joins the team with a wealth of local and international experience in hotels, meetings, incentive, conference and events and will seek to communicate to potential clients the many possibilities that are available at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre and within the Lime Venue portfolio.
Robert Green, commercial property law expert and senior associate at Gardner Leader solicitors – which has offices at Newbury, Thatcham and Maidenhead – is retiring after nearly half a century practising commercial law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1971, joined a London law firm where he became partner, and went on to become partner in a large, multi-service firm in Berkshire.
Penningtons Manches’ Guildford office has appointed two lawyers, Laura Hughes and Lee Henderson, to boost the growing Surrey family-law practice. Hughes joins from Crisp & Co where she advised on all aspects of divorce and separation, with a particular focus on high-net-worth clients with complex assets; trust and pension portfolios; high-value pre-nuptial agreements; and complex, contested Children Act matters such as international relocation. She also advises on alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Henderson joins the firm from Goodman Ray, a leading niche family firm in Central London where he worked closely with the head of the matrimonial team. A member of Resolution, Lee has experience in all areas of family law, with a particular focus on issues arising out of relationship breakdown including children matters and disputes involving complex financial arrangements following separation.

Adam Jacobs, owner of Jacobs the Jewellers, has been appointed as the new chair of Reading UK CIC, the economic development and marketing body for the town. He will take over the role from Steve Belam, former general manager of The Oracle Centre. Jacobs has been a member of the board for three years in his capacity as chair of Reading Business Improvement District (BID). That position will be taken over by Graham Mountford, general manager of Broad Street Mall. Jacobs oversaw the implementation of new business plans (2014- 19) which have unlocked an annual investment of £500,000 in Reading town centre. He said: “Reading is in the midst of a period of major development and a resurgence in arts and culture which are re-shaping the look and feel of our town centre.”
