The London showroom exhibits many

examples of their fine furniture, and houses a vast sample library showcasing the different materials and finishes they work with, including many specialist finishes developed exclusively within the company. It is an ideal space for consultation and for finding inspiration. The finishing studio downstairs allows a rare glimpse into the finishing processes and creativity of the talented artisan finishers. The design studio and workshops are

located in rural Shropshire; an idyllic part of the country which has preserved many of its craft traditions, allowing them to evolve and contribute to contemporary culture while sustaining localised production. All Rupert Bevan’s furniture and finishes

are made in Britain, often by hand using traditional and sometimes rare artisan, techniques. Diverse specialities include cabinet making, metalwork, stone and leather work, antiqued mirror glass and verre églomisé, decorative paintwork and lacquer- work, gilded and gesso finishes – among many others, providing an extraordinary capacity to meet almost any brief. Every piece of furniture is characterised by

its outstanding design and use of materials, its reflection of the client’s requirements, and ability to fit seamlessly into the space it was designed for. The specialist surfaces created for walls or cabinetry have an exquisite element of artistry to them; a quality which

shows they have been devotedly crafted by hand to the highest possible standard. Rupert Bevan’s antiqued mirror glass is renowned for its authentic appearance. Each panel is custom made to size, and silvered and antiqued by hand in the Shropshire glass studio to an agreed level of patination. Conscious that the term ‘bespoke’ is

often misappropriated, and used to refer to goods which are made to order or customisable but produced on a more commercial scale, Rupert Bevan hopes that his own work embodies the concept on a more authentic level. The process, in which each piece is created from ideas evoked in the initial consultation, translated into a series of original concept sketches and samples before being turned into technical drawings, and then crafted into reality by a team of highly skilled makers and finishers, is bespoke at every stage in the journey. Rupert and his team take great pride

in their work, which is evidenced in their attention to detail and the dedication with which they commit to every project. Defined by a look that is honest and understated, yet

luxurious in its use of fine finishes

and beautiful materials, Rupert Bevan’s creations balance functionality and longevity alongside timeless design and artistic appeal. For anyone looking to commission furniture or interior finishes they offer a service which is ultimately bespoke in all respects.
