With August upon us, I’ve noticed the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting a bit cooler. It’s these early signs of fall that remind me that the year 2016 is going by way too fast. Tank goodness Husker football, the Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days and we can’t forget, the Nebraska Trucking Association Fall Management Conference are all just around the corner. While I extend a warm welcome to all of you who will venture out to Grand Island for the Nebraska State Fair or Husker Harvest Days, I’m really hoping that you will join me at this year’s Fall Management Conference on September 22–23 at the Marriott Regency in Omaha.
I always enjoy the chance to see old friends and make new ones at this important event each year. Tis year’s event will again be filled with informational topics and speakers ranging from representatives from the Truckers Against Trafficking organization to experts on how to create a succession plan for your business. Also a nationally known source will present information regarding global warming and world trade.

Of course, while we’re learning and networking, we’ll also “work” in a little fun and friendly competition at the annual trap shoot Tursday morning and golf tournament Friday afternoon. Finally, at the Annual Banquet Tursday, we will once again honor two very special people as the new recipients of the Golden Deeds and the Woman of Distinction awards. Be sure to come and help us celebrate this wonderful honor. At Friday morning’s breakfast, sponsored by Great West Casualty, we will be honoring recipients of our Safety Awards and our outstanding support staff that make our companies great.
Tis the past year has been a fun and rewarding experience and has gone by quickly. It has been my pleasure and my honor to work with the professional staff at Nebraska Trucking Association along with the members of the Executive Committee.
