At just 42 years old, Truck Center


Companies owner Trey Mytty already has more than two decades of history with the business. It’s safe to say he knows pretty much everything there is to know about the company, which is one of the largest Freightliner dealership networks in the country. What occupies Mytty’s mind these days,


though, is not the company’s history but its future. Since it was founded in 1975, the company has grown to nine locations in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. Revenues have doubled since Mytty bought the business in late 2007, and it now has more than 500 employees. Mytty’s focus now is on how to position Truck Center Companies to continue to grow both physically and in its ability to


take care of customers’ service needs. Te most obvious sign of that future


planning is the construction that got underway this summer on a new flagship location in Omaha on 27 acres near Interstate 80. Te 175,000-square-foot facility will house the company’s headquarters, a new and larger training center, a new dealership, and a new body shop. “We’ve outgrown where we are today,”


Mytty said. He also made a key addition to the


company’s leadership last November. Mytty was the company’s vice president when he bought the business, which was founded by Lloyd L. Brown of Nebraska Truck Center. From that point on, he handled all the day-to- day responsibilities of running the company’s


multiple locations in addition to the strategic work of planning for the future. Last fall, he brought on Rob Cygan, a 19-


year veteran of Daimler Truck Financial, as executive vice president. “He asked me to come aboard to run the


daily operations of all the locations so he can spend more time on future growth and plans for the organization,” said Cygan, who’s known Mytty for more than a dozen years. “With one person running the entire organization, it’s hard to concentrate on the needs for the future.” Even the Truck Center Companies name


is relatively new. For most of the company’s history, each of its dealerships was named after the city where it was located.
