Rewarding Fellowship

Two annual events provide opportunities to have fun, build community, and raise funds for FPCA ministries

The church’s Youth Ministry hosted its second annual FPCA Yard Sale on July 30. The sale attracted dozens of visitors to the church lawn for a morning of buying and selling.

Youth Ministry invited the congregation to participate in a variety of ways. For a $20 fee, individuals or families were able to purchase a table to sell their belongings on their own. Donations were also made for weeks leading up to the sale, and youth collected all profits from sales of those items.

The second annual First Presbyterian Church of Allentown golf outing drew 70 golfers to Allentown Municipal Golf Course August 12.

Te tournament raised about $12,000 for Allentown’s winter sheltering project for the homeless and other FPCA mission projects. It also provided a great opportunity for fellowship on the course and over the lunch provided by Jack’s Slice.

Sponsors and other donors played a big part in the event’s success. Silver Sponsors, donating $1,000 apiece, were Equinox; Campbell, Rappold & Yurasits CPAs; Te Haverford Trust Company; J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home Inc, Sonya and Todd Siegfried; and Merrill Lynch, Te Douglass Group.

Bronze Sponsors, with $500 donations, were BB&T; Meli & Associates, Personal Advisors of Ameriprise Financial; and State Farm Insurance, Tim Brion, Agent. Several local businesses and golf courses donated gift cards, merchandise, and other prizes for the tournament.

Troughout the event, several youth volunteers helped by selling refreshments, overseeing merchandise, and assisting visitors through the church. Due to the support of donors and volunteers who organized the treasures, over $1,500 was raised to fund many worthy programs that Youth Ministry takes part in throughout the year. Youth Ministry provides our children and teens with educational opportunities to become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ and allows them to participate in mission work that leaves a lasting impression.
