Vacation Bible School
In July, more than 100 children, led by 50 youth and adult volunteers, participated in Vacation Bible School (VBS) with a theme of Deep Sea Discovery: God Is with Me Wherever I Go! The program serves families both at FPCA and in the community, teaching about the love of Jesus Christ. While summer camps can cost families hundreds of dollars a week, VBS participants pay just $5 per child.
Children did daily Bible studies around the theme, learned songs, enjoyed recreation, participated in crafts, and ate healthy snacks. Hackman’s Bible Bookstore provided the curriculum. Representatives from local schools and shelters spoke to children about how FPCA’s mission work has had an impact at their organization. VBS shows children the importance of God in their lives in a relaxed and fun environment. Says VBS lead Jennifer Kareha, “If the kids have fun, it’s a success!”
