DATIA Committee Goals for 2016–2017


DATIA is always on the move for its members! In this section, you will find out what DATIA’s committees are up to. Expect an update from one committee in each edition of DATIA focus. If you are interested in joining any of DATIA’s committees, please contact Laura Shelton at lshelton@datia.org

ATIA’s Commitees had the chance to meet in-person during the DATIA 2016 Annual


Conference to discuss goals for the 2016–17 year. Te commitees have a number of goals to enrich membership benefits for the members as well as to tackle new issues for drug and alcohol testing providers. Below is a recap of the top initiatives for each commitee.


Communications Te commitee is continually working to make DATIA focus bigger and beter! Tey are taking efforts to gather articles on a variety of topics, including those that may not be directly related to drug and alcohol testing, but will benefit DATIA members. As always, if you have ideas or interest in writing for DATIA focus, please contact Adina Young at adina@datia.org.


Legislative and Regulatory Tis commitee is working with the marijuana commitee to create a media kit with information on employers’ rights to drug testing employees. Tis will also work as a template for members to use in addressing legislative actions in their states on a number of drug free workplace issues. Ten they plan to do the same regarding prescription drugs and drugged driving, in particular.


Education Te Education Commitee is working on creating new online training programs for DATIA members this year. Te commitee is also working on revamping our webinars


and on new ways to increase atendance in DATIA webinars. Tey are also working on ways to promote and make widely available our archived webinars that are available for purchase aſter each webinar.


Membership Te commitee is focusing this year on growing DATIA’s membership and making membership more diverse with more employers. If you have ideas on benefits for your membership, please contact Emily Gilcher at emily@datia.org. We want your feedback to serve you beter.


International Te international commitee is working on an informative press release to the South Asian market to stimulate interest in drug testing and in DATIA in those areas. Tis commitee is focusing on increasing international resources for members and increasing participation by the international community.


Marijuana Outreach Tis commitee is working with the Legislative and Regulatory commitee to create a media kit with information on employers’ rights to drug testing employees. Tis will also work as a template for members to use in addressing issues regarding testing for marijuana in states with legalized medical and/or recreational use. As a member of DATIA, we welcome
