Truck Driving Championships 2016 Nebraska BY NT STAFF Toby Kort, FedEx Freight, Inc., drove
off with the Grand Champion trophy, the professional excellence award, the Kurt Everett Vehicle Condition Award and first place in the five-axle class at the 2016 Nebraska Truck Driving Championships June 3-4 in Grand Island, Neb. Kort has competed in the Championships for 13 years, has been driving professionally for 19 years with an accumulated 1,500,000 miles. Tere were 98 drivers who participated
in this annual event. Te winners of nine divisions will compete in the American Truck Driving Championships, August 10–13 in Indianapolis, while the mixer truck champion advances to the National Mixer Driver Championship. Returning to a favorite tradition,
trucking companies served up lunch for their competitors, families and spectators, making for a festive atmosphere. Te Nebraska Trucking Association’s
Safety Management Council organizes the championships. Cath Galvin with Brown Transfer served as this year’s event chairperson and was assisted by a committee and host of volunteers. Nebraska Trucking and the championships
