and trailers and the other for cleaning manure from livestock trailers. Two high-pressure fire hoses spray 80 gallons of water a minute. Kilthau obtained that facility in 2008. He

had bought what became the company’s shop at that location from Speedway Trucking, which also owned an adjacent truck wash. After the truck wash changed ownership three times, he decided to buy it himself because he feared another buyer might purchase it, change it, and make it harder for his trucks to get to his shop. “We bought it, and then we found out that

there was a demand for washing out livestock trailers, so we just kept operating it,” he said. Cyclone Enterprises’ varied ventures make

it possible for the company to be a family affair. Kilthau’s wife, Jeanie, manages the truck stop full-time, which can be demanding, especially when an employee is sick and she has to cover. At one time, the stop housed an A&W restaurant that was managed by Kerry’s husband, Mike Lichty, while Kerry and Heidi worked in the corporate offices, which also were in the Shell station. same facility and we were becoming crammed. All three businesses were demanding more space so in November 2014, new trucking offices and parking garages were built at a third location which blessed us with more room. Outside of work, Kilthau has several

daughters – Kerry, Heidi and Dana Kilthau – have given him five grandchildren ages 23 to 10: Brandon Lichty, Christian Kilthau, Joslin Lichty, Brinley Pszanka and Tanner Pszanka. Christian is an Army Airborne Ranger and has earned his commercial driver’s license and his tanker endorsement through the Army. When he leaves the service in August, he plans to earn his hazmat endorsement. “He wants to come back and work in the

business and maybe someday take it over,” Kilthau said. Last November, he and Jeanie were given

some wonderful news by Brandon: A great- granddaughter is due this summer. Brandon, a prankster like Kilthau, gave him a small box. “I thought, ‘Well, what’s going to jump out

of the box? A (fake) snake? A mouse? … So I was anticipating that, but when I opened up the box, there was a little note on the lid of it that said, ‘Well, we’ve always known you’ve been great grandparents, but now you’re really going to be great-grandparents.’” NT
