Home to one of the world’s finest pinetum conifer collections, early summer is the perfect time to explore Bedgebury on a bike. With a great choice of trails, from short routes for less experienced riders, to family trails and those for the more adventurous— even if you don’t have a bike, you can hire one at Bedgebury from Quench Cycles, so there’s no excuse, other than to turn up with a map!


Once here, you’ll ride past giant conifer trees providing dappled shadows in the sun and spot colourful flowers and interesting wildlife that makes the pinetum home. Whichever day you visit Bedgebury, it will be unique to you, so don’t forget to visit often and see Bedgebury through the seasons.


Summer is an ideal time to start


cycling. You might be here to try out a trail as a first-timer or come here often for a blast on the challenge trails; either way, Bedgebury will make you more than welcome with its well-maintained trails.

Why not bring your family and explore the family trail – a 9km ride through the forest? The surfaced trail is flat, with a few steeper inclines in places.


If you have young or inexperienced


riders with you, the shorter 4km family trail might be better. The track is gravelly in places, so you may need to assist younger members at times.


If you’re visiting Bedgebury in search


of a challenge, then you will not be disappointed. The single-track mountain bike trail has defeated many an unsuspecting thrill-seeker, no matter how experienced they are. The trail is regarded as difficult in most places and will break you out into a sweat as well as a smile!


The route is currently undergoing significant development to include free ride areas and an excellent black run for serious thrill-seekers.


Regardless of which trail you opt for at


Bedgebury, you can always cut the trail short or take a break at any time — the aim is to have fun and to stop and admire the beautiful surroundings and atmosphere of this 320-acre pinetum.


Don’t forget your camera


Bedgebury Pinetum is home to 10,000 tree specimens — some extremely rare. All the cycle tracks allow an opportunity to view and admire the pinetum, plants and wildlife that thrive in these perfect
