RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB TEIGNMOUTH PICTURE CONTRIBUTED BY LORNA GRAY

ESTABLISHED in 1874, Teignmouth RFC is one of the South West’s oldest rugby clubs. Based by the river at Bitton Park, this community based club runs four senior sides, the First and Second XV, the Women’s XV and the Colts XV, and has a thriving Junior Section, covering teams from Under 7 to Under 16. Senior training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, whilst most of the Junior activities are on Sunday mornings.

Last season the First XV completed their first ever season in the South West 1 League (Level 6 of the national league

pyramid) and in a thrilling conclusion managed to preserve their status for another year. In addition the Colts reached the Final of the Devon Plate, and the Women’s team took its first tentative steps into full-contact matches.

Off the pitch the club has a busy social membership, and has recently renovated its Function Room to provide an excellent venue for events such as charity evenings, wedding receptions and birthday parties, catering for up to 150 people. For more information about booking the Function Room or becoming involved in playing for the Club, please contact the Club Steward on 01626 778217, log on to the website www.pitchero.com/clubs/teignmouthrfc/ or visit the Facebook page at www.facebook/teignmouth.rfc.
