MID-Summer will once again see Teignmouth play host to some of the finest performers currently working on the folk circuit, when the town’s annual folk festival, its 18th, is held over the weekend of June 17-19. Now a firmly established event on the national folk calendar, the event will feature a roster of guests such as Jeff Warner from the USA but a regular, welcome visitor to these shores. Jeff is almost a one-man festival, being not only a fine musician and singer but also a great authority on the American folk song tradition and a vastly experience workshop leader on a host of subjects. Definitely a man not to be missed! From Scotland we have the return

of one of the UK’s finest bands, Malinky. A powerhouse of tunes and songs that will never disappoint its audience. Exeter-based vocal group, The Claque and shanty men The Roaring Trowmen from Bristol will provide ample opportunities for lovers of rousing choruses to sing along with gusto.

Fine English tradition band Magpie Lane are another band that we have persuaded back to Teignmouth, with good reason. A new act to the festival will be the ridiculously talented duo, The James Brothers (they are not brothers and only one of them is called James!) No folk festival would be complete without the sights and

Apart from the major concerts held in the town’s brand new Pavillions, the festival’s ceilidh/barn dance will be held at the the community school featuring local high-energy band Red Shed.
