Shaldon Regatta


NINE days of 120 events to take part in, watch and enjoy on the river and beach where the Shaldon to Teignmouth ferry lands.


Events are for all ages and abilities and include rowing, swimming, beach sports, rounders, volleyball, sailing, tug-of-war, kriket (Shaldon rules), motor boat races, duck race, King Canute, sandcastles, beach football and pillow fights.


You will be encouraged to join in, if you want to, by a friendly helpful committee. Eight rowing dinghies and six sailing dinghies are available on loan for races, to help you join in the fun.

Shaldon Regatta was started in 1817 and is the oldest of its kind in Britain. What started as a test of boating skills between local working boatmen of all types has turned into an event to include local families and holidaymakers.
