Each subscriber will soon receive a PPS Manual containing important information which will be updated and added to on a monthly basis. The manual will also be a useful training booklet for new staff.

am not easily shocked but over the last few months I was, if not shocked at least surprised, on more than one occasion.
I know it is inadvisable to assume, as we all know what that does! Well, I assumed a few things only to discover I was wrong. Now that is something. I’m not always right but I’m very seldom wrong.
To my surprise I have found that not every pharmacist receives their electronic account in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.
If you are still receiving your BSO Statement in PDF Format you really should contact BSO and request the Excel format which is easier to use when you are checking your statement of account items.
The data can then be sorted and manipulated to investigate your payments and check that you have received the correct amount.
This leads me to another surprise I had. I would have expected each pharmacy to scrutinise their statement each month and to check that all their expensive items have been paid.
This is often the main source of income and, like a bank account, it needs to be checked. If you do not already check thoroughly, make a resolution to start with your next statement. Let’s make it a habit because we all know habits are hard to break.
My last but not least subject is labelling software. Remember BSO only advocates the use of the BSO Code Book to code prescription forms. I know the majority of pharmacies use the code from the label produced by their computer. Please ensure you always use up to date software but remember also to check for any recent changes to a patient’s prescription.
