Prize for innovative forestry technology
A
t the 17th KWF-Tagung in Roding, Germany, from 9-12 June, 2016, the Kuratorium für
Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik e.V. (KWF) is once again holding its prestigious innovation competition. For the eighth time, a wide variety of companies will be presenting their most innovative developments in forestry technology to the expert committees and the most ground- breaking products and solutions will be presented with the sought- after KWF innovation medal during the award ceremony on the opening day of the KWF-Tagung. The competition, which has been running since 2012, follows a two-step process similar to the Oscars. All exhibitors at the KWF-Expo, which is part of the KWF-Tagung, are invited to submit their latest developments to the
KWF in brief and concise form. Committees of experts then select the most convincing products from among the submissions. The list of nominees is comprised of these potential medal candidates. The list will be published from the end of April in the trade press and online. This gives both visitors and professionals the opportunity to find out about the trade fair highlights in advance.
The nominated products that will emerge as the winners and receive the KWF innovation medals will be decided shortly before the award ceremony at the KWF-Expo. During the award presentation, descriptions and images of the nominations will once again be presented to the press and the public before the medals are awarded to the winners. The KWF innovation medals
recognise
products whose function was significantly altered, products that enable new methods to be employed or that represent a substantial improvement of a known method. The winning products are selected based on their expected positive impact on utility, business management, occupational safety, the environment and the energy situation. More than 70 companies submitted entries for the most recent KWF innovation prize in 2014. Eight of these submissions were awarded with a medal. Interested parties wishing to enter must submit their innovations to the KWF by 8 April. More information from
