In response to the growing importance of woodfuel as a source of renewable energy, PEFC is increasingly working to strengthen the link between sustainable biomass and forest certification. It feels that the expansion of PEFC-certified forest cover in the UK would result in better managed woodlands and an improved supply of certified material to a ready-made and growing market. Having more certified woodlands will also ensure that forest owners can access markets that are keen to procure certified raw materials.
