And acknowledge that we’re all equal --no bigger, better or lesser than each other. MARCIA: We’ve touched on a few qualities in our upbeat arsenal, or palette of colors: having humility, honesty, forth- rightness, a sense of wonder to share about. PAUL: I’m in awe of things I can’t control, like weather, na- ture, galaxies, stars… Maybe getting back to our roots, the basics is part of being upbeat. -- And not bringing my iphone here, so I can give you my full attention. You get 100% of who I am right this moment. MARCIA: Being present, and getting away from our fast- paced living styles? Buried in messages, info, emails? MARCIA: Like attracts like… PAUL: So if you’re alive, be fully aware of it, act like it. Take responsibility, use our real intelligence in life, including the benevolence of existence. Kindness resonates with me, I aspire to be more kind. Not that I’ve been mean, but I used to get very upset with injustices & my family’s hostility to me. MARCIA: Did you get teased or bullied as a kid? PAUL: Oh yeah. I tended to talk a lot and say silly things to
