Directories hail Blake Morgan as a ’regional heavyweight’ that is ’strong across the board’
South Coast law firm Blake Morgan is named as a ’regional heavyweight’ with some of the country’s leading specialists in rankings just published by a prestigious legal directory

Blake Morgan, which has offices in Southampton and Portsmouth, is praised as a top-tier firm in the south in The Legal 500 directory.
Blake Morgan also achieves top rankings for practice areas including commercial property, corporate and commercial, employment, personal tax, trusts and probate, commercial litigation and family.
The directory notes that in the south, Blake Morgan’s teams are “strong across the board, with excellent capabilities in specialist areas such as private equity and licensing“.
Seven partners who work out of the firm’s Portsmouth and Southampton offices are named as elite “Leading Lawyers“ – the highest accolade the directory can give.
They are Ben Graham-Evans, who leads the firm’s aviation finance team; Elizabeth Davis, leader of the charities team; pensions specialist John Hamilton; Kath Shimmin, who leads the banking and finance team; Max Craft, who heads the employment team; Susie Dryden, leader of the commercial litigation team; and licensing team head Jon Wallsgrove, described as “one of the few specialists in this niche area“.

The Legal 500, seen as a benchmark of quality for the legal profession, reviews the strengths of lawyers across the UK and makes its recommendations based on how they are seen by their clients and peers.
In total Blake Morgan, which has offices in Cardiff, London, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading and Southampton, is in the directory’s top tier in 35 practice areas, is recommended in a further 48, has 36 leading lawyers and has 131 recommended lawyers.

Blake Morgan’s leading lawyers in Portsmouth and Southampton are also celebrating top rankings in the most authoritative guide to the legal profession in the UK.
The 2016 edition of the legal directory Chambers UK describes Blake Morgan as “commercial and pragmatic“ and a “significant regional firm“ in the south.

In addition, 22 individual lawyers across the Portsmouth and Southampton offices are listed in their area of expertise.
