If your challenge is not upheld and you are still not happy, the next stage is to submit a formal appeal. Again, this is carried out online but this time it is forwarded to the DIO Customer Services Team for their decision. As with all good processes, the devil is in the detail and we were assured by DIO that if they consider there is any ambiguity on the merits of a challenge, they will in all probability find in favour of the challenger (You).


• Overseas – The CAAS surveys are expected to be completed on properties by the end of the year and letters confirming the BfC delivered to occupants shortly thereafter.


• Single Living Accommodation (SLA) – Judging by the ‘wall of silence’ from personnel residing in SLA, I can only surmise that SLA is universally fit for purpose and represents of excellent value!! We would welcome your comments either way.


• Finally – please continue to let us know of any SFA or SLA concerns you may have – our advice could just make all the difference!

Stage 1 Challenge


Raise issue with DIO Service Provider¹ in writing as a Stage 1 Challenge; individual is to provide reason for challenge against one or more of Condition, Location and Scale criteria, providing detail as to the basis of the challenge. This will be acknowledged within 3 working days, and will give a response within 28 working days.


If not satisfactorily resolved, individual may raise the issue with DIO SD Accn. This will be acknowledged within 3 working days, and will aim to give a response within 28 working days.
