Forthcoming Events

By Keith Nicol

As winter approaches, there’s a chill in the air as we enter the Christmas Shopping Frenzy. Starting us off this month, we have the very special Town Meets Country event in Torrevieja, to help benefit and raise awareness of animal welfare in the Costa Blanca and beyond. The event takes place on November 14th and is brought to you by, GM Promotions, Grupo Rubio and sponsors SKODA, and

the main media sponsors Female Focus and QF Focus magazines. This event is in aid of the local animal sanctuary/ pound in Torrevieja, the Albergue which is going through some very positive changes. The entry into to the event is 1€, all being donated to the protection of the animals in the Albergue. So put the date in your diary Saturday 14th November from 10am to 5pm, just behind the V2 Petrol station on Cortes Valenciana in Torrevieja.

If you love the music of your youth, there are two similar but different nights for you to enjoy, both at Reflections Bar, on San Luis Lakeside in Torrevieja. One week after the other there is not one but two Old School Discos. Get yourself dressed up in something resembling your old uniform from your schooldays: go as Belle from St. Trinian’s, a bad Terry Thomas schoolboy, your pop idol from yesteryear, or pick a theme such as teddy boy, surfer girl, mod or rocker, glam or punk rocker. Whatever you decide,

it’s bound to be a fun night out. The first Old School Disco is on Thursday November 19th and your 12.50€ also gets you a school lunch, be it fish fingers, sausages, baked beans, chips and of course apple crumble and custard. You can pick up your tickets from the venue or reserve yours by phoning 603 344 717 or 688 387 490. Be there or be square. Both are fun, fundraising events.

If you’re a big Texas music fan, there’s ‘An evening with Texas’ on Tuesday 17th November at the Palacio Vista Alegre in Madrid and on the 18th they move to Barcelona’s Sala Razzmattaz. The next night, the Foo Fighters are in Barcelona on Thursday 19th November in the Palau Sant Jordi while at the same venue on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th, the undisputed Queen of Pop, Madonna flaunts her stuff for all to see and hear.

During the winter the The Rojales Craft Market is open on the 1st Sunday of each month in the morning from 11am to 2pm. It’s is a fun place to visit if you are looking for small a gift, piece of art or decoration, don’t miss the monthly Craft Market at the Cuevas del Rodeo in Rojales. Local artists put their work on display along with other craft works to browse and enjoy. Also on the 1st Sunday of each month is the Ace Cafe Classic Car event, on the street outside La Torre Hotel in Los Montesinos from 11am to 1pm while Moonshiners have their Classic and Custom Rod event at the Miroil Garage in Catral on the last Sunday of the month between 11am and 1pm.
