TUSD and Toyota partner in perfect attendance program

For the third consecutive year,

the Tustin Unified School District is partnering with Tustin Toyota to increase student attendance. All seniors who maintain perfect daily attendance at TUSD’s high schools will be eligible to enter a lottery for a brand new 2016 Toyota Corolla donated by Tustin Toyota. All participants in the “Drive

for Perfect Attendance” program must be high school seniors who attend Beckman, Foothill, Hill-

view or Tustin during their 2015- 16 school year. To be eligible for the lottery, students must have perfect at- tendance throughout their senior year: Sept. 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. The drawing for the donated

vehicle will take place at the TUSD Board of Education Meet- ing on Monday, June 13. The winning student will be presented with the vehicle at his/her gradu- ation ceremony.

Dennis Blake, far right, a fifth-generation resident of Orange, is in the record books, as he caught the first – and largest -- black marlin ever off the coast of California. This fish tipped the scales at 350 pounds. Blake used a 40-pound test line and brought in the fish after a three-hour battle. Warmer water temperatures indicate that this may not be the last marlin to be caught in California.
