New Trail Aid for Pocono Hikers A
new website featuring preserves and trails in the Poconos gives hikers a comprehensive resource for finding
outdoor adventures throughout the area. Get Outdoors Poconos, a grant-funded series by the Brodhead Watershed Association, features monthly hiking events trail maps, hiker’s hints, photos and feature stories. After the monthly events, a hiker’s archive of trail information will be available on the site. These sites and maps are easily accessed on smartphones via QR codes posted at trailheads.
The Broadhead Watershed Association needs volunteers, and opportunities
abound. The largest corps of volunteers is the Streamwatchers, people that “adopt” one or more stream sites and check them monthly Other volunteer opportunities can be shorter, such as helping with a native plant sales, the Cherry Valley Festival, working with students at the Waterwaze Festival or helping with stream cleanups and hikes.
